Choice Home Warranty is a New Jersey-based company founded in 2008 which offers services contracts. Their plans offer protection against the cost of repair or replacement of major systems and appliances in the home via several plans. You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I put in a claim for my stove top and so far so good. They acted on it promptly and a service company came out and assessed it and now just waiting for the part to come in to have it fixed. I'm very satisfied with the service they provided. The representatives of CHW were very nice and efficient to work with. Thank -You

Our air conditioning unit was not working. Choice Home Warranty had a repairman out immediately. The repairman was kind, courteous and prompt. Had our unit up and running without delay. 5 star rating from me.

They arrived right on time i told what the air conditioner was doing and took a look at it. They went there truck and brought back the needed part and installed. And we tryed and was working like new again. I have told other people how i was happy with your service.

The water heater was repaired. However, it took over a week to get the part and schedule the technician to come back to install it....

The claims and customer service has always been prompt, helpful and courteous and the price is great. I have only good things to say about Choice. Their service providers have been pretty good although at peak times I have had to wait for them to come back and finish a job. This happened in the winter when a pipe froze. They fixed the cut off valve which had broken and they restored water to my house but said they would have to come back to fix the other pipe that lead to the outside faucet because they had so many other customers without water to their houses that day. I thought that was not unreasonable considering I did not need outside water for a couple of months.

Choice is the worst home warranty company I have ever contracted with. My first two claims they covered completely to satisfaction. Three months later I made a claim on electrical service. Two different contractors came out and could not correct the problem. Contractors did not appear very educated in electrical field. I finally called an outside service, paying full price to have them correct the problem My next four calls to Choice, requesting service on garage door openers, new power outage in a bathroom, an AC problem and garbage disposal not working, choice sent repairman out charging me their $45 service fee each time. We had a plumbing issue in our home. When I called CHW, I was advised they would contact me with a plumber within 24hrs. However, I received a response within an hour. Plumber worked around our schedule. They were on time, professional and also gave us helpful information with other system in our home. Would definitely recommend CHW to anyone.

Be extremely careful when choosing a warranty company. This company does not honor their service contractors that they dispatch to your home. They also find ways around paying for a claim unless it is under a certain amount. I will never recommend or use this warranty company after my contract expires.

I chose Choice Home Warranty after careful research and customer reviews-I am very happy with the service and coverage Choice provides, The piece of mind for a small monthly payment , the ease in which how to report an issue and the speed that Choice gets a contractor to you is all excellent. I recommend Choice to any homeowner who's home is out of warranty, and wants piece of mind coupled with a great service!

Excellent service and claims department. Only issue is that they need more contractors as they are quire busy and this can lead to longer than necessary delays in final service.
