Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

I am pleased to say and write a review for Choice Home Warranty.. I was very skeptical at first and talked with several companies but eventually went with them. I have had 2 claims, the last one was for my A/C Unit... I hoped for the best but expected it would be a longer process than it was. The technician was out to the house the next day and replaced the parts on one trip, the service technician I am pleased to say did really good quality work.. looks like I'll be keeping this service..

Customer service is great. The technician did NOT call me as expected, BUT as soon as I called him, je was out within a few hours and did quick EXCELLENT work. He found the leak that had been left by last tech which was the cause of the problem. He was wonderful. Advantage heat/ac.

This was my first time using CHW and I couldn't be happier. The companies responded quickly and showed up on time. The work was completed to my satisfaction and the servicemen were very polite and professional. This was the best experience.

Choice Home Warranty has been excellent customer service. They are one of the fastest companies I ever dealt with. Once you go online a submit a claim they let you know ASAP they received it and takes about an hour or so for them to assign it to one of the companies that do their work for them.

If I were to tell you I jumped off the roof and broke my leg, would you decide to try jumping off the roof anyways? Why would you pay for this never-pay, always-an-exclusion so called home warranty? Do not (not not not) waste your money. The salespersons will convince you this is a reputable company. They almost convinced me to pay for three years. Thank goodness I did not. Two properties, two claims, both denied. Don't really know why! They never put anything in writing as to why the claim is denied, despite four requests on the phone for each of the two claims. They only say it verbally. So, if you decide to go ahead and pay for this so-called warranty, then... Read More

Plumber showed up on time, assessed the problems, got ok to do the work, did the work in a short time and solved the problems; would use this firm again. Prompt, efficient, professional and reasonable.

I called in a claim for an issue that had been fixed three months before and was not happy. I asked that another company be used to do the work and that Choice waive the service call fee. Choice was able to grant both requests. The company did a great job and explained the issue, what was not covered by insurance and is sending me a detail quote on additional work I will need down. I will use that company again. I was very happy with the entire experience. Thank you!

If you are thinking on getting this insurance, read the fine print in their contract first. At the end, you may be paying an expensive insurance that covers almost nothing. We had two claims and both were denied. They advertise that they will replace your appliance when needed, but it is all misleading as they have fine print in their contracts that gives them a way out from approving a claim. In addition, the technicians that they work with are not real companies (all their emails are gmail.com, yahoo.com, etc.) and do not carry enough insurance or are not bonded. Do not waste your money; the concept is good, but this company is in only for a profit.

Please heed this warning.. Do not use choice home warranty. Horrible company. They do not honor their contact agreement. Will not repair items if they have to be replaced. See BBB complaints.
