Their plans offer protection against the cost of repair or replacement of major systems and appliances in the home via several plans. Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

When I purchased this home warranty, I thought it wouldn't be as user friendly as I hoped. I didn't expect to make claims, but as it turned out, I have made three claims in the past year. Every time it was handled promptly by both CHOICE HOME AND THE VENDORS. The claims office was very courteous, and didn't question my need for help at all. People had previously told me that warranties of this type won't actually cover anything, but with Choice, I am happy to say that it has been a good investment.

My furnace went out in December last year. After waiting 3 days and not hearing from CHW, they could not find a heating contractor in my area who was willing to deal with them. They lied and gave me a name of a contractor. When no one called back, I called the contractor and was told they stopped doing business with CHW 3 months ago. I found a contractor on my own but he required I pay the entire bill and deal with CHW directly. He came out and determined that the heat exchanger was defective. Heat exchangers are guaranteed by the manufacturer for 40 years but the labor to install it was $780.00. CHW would not pay anything and after argueing with managers they finally agreed to pay... Crist, the repair man for my drier arrived on time. He informed me of the problem, and arranged to time to return with the fuse link, which needed to be ordered. On Friday, he fixed my clothes dryer. Good job Crist!

...We have had Choice Home Warranty for a decade, didn't change because we were lazy and too tolerant. They progressively got worse and worse. They fought us over a garbage disposal, electrical outlets, air conditioning, and the last straw, Mom's bathroom faucets. Multiple calls and poor subcontractors. DO NOT BUY THIS WARRANTY SERVICE.

They do not stand out among the best for service. Read your contract carefully, you will find hidden terms that limited what they will cover. Of course this is in all contracts ,it just catch me by surprise and the response from Home choice was "he knew so we want pay for that".

I and my son (2 homes) have had Choice for 6 months. On our first call (son's house for an AC issue) Choice came out and identified a refrigerant leak in the compressor unit. Choice stated it didn't cover leaks and wanted $1400.00 to repair and recharge. When we called Choice they were stated they would not cover and basically implied that I should read the fine print in the warranty contract. They are are a ripoff company. They use high pressure sales with the intention of not covering a lot of issues. I totally regret getting this service.

I agree with the last review. I also got a call from a sales person who started off very nice and then was rude when I advised I wanted to digest what he was telling me. If your sales people will tone it down, the reviews will get you customersm
