Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I CONTACTED CHOICE, MY FIRST SERVICE REQUEST, I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT, IT WAS A LITTLE OVER 24 HOURS - I HAD A VERY NICE SERVICEMAN, TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM VERY QUICKLY, VERY NICE, AND COURTEOUS! My experience with Choice Home Warranty has been excellent. Many people will tell you what you want to hear instead of being honest and upfront with whether some thing is a covered repair , I appreciate the honesty. Everything from scheduling to the repair has been a great experience for me.

My husband called to get more information regarding this company before purchasing a home warranty plan. The first representative couldn’t answer some his questions and would just say to look it up on the web site. He didn’t seem interested in helping answer specific questions my husband was asking about regarding their service. He hung up on my husband. My husband then called back and talked to a fellow named Chip. More of the same indifferent treatment but this time the representative got very rude and annoyed at helping us. Service technician informed us his estimated time of arrival. He listened to our information about the problem, then examined the macihine. He determined the machine needed replacement parts and was very thorough. He was courteous and polite. I would recommend Choice Home Warranty to other people.

This was my first ever claim since purchasing the coverage. I called in regarding issues with my dryer not working, the response was prompt and I had an assigned technician right away. Unfortunately the technician Choice warranty assigned was less than professional and never showed. I was able to contact a local trusted technician who completed the repair in no time and Choice warranty reimbursed me for the charge no questions asked.

We had a real problem lighting our pilot light one evening & the next day, it would light but would not stay lit. I phoned Choice and was advised it might be 24 - 48 hrs. before someone would phone to schedule an appt. but about an hour later we received a recorded message advising a local AC/heat company would be visiting us the next day between 11 am and 5 pm. The gentleman phoned the next day at 10:15 am and arrived about 20 minutes later. He cleaned a part that was corroded and the pilot light was lit - needless to say we were elated as we did experience a few days of chilly weather! I'm a licensed Realtor so I would definitely recommend Choice Home Warranty to clients and friends!
