Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

It’s a scam. They ask a company to take the call, set up an appt that doesn’t work for the company and then blame them for not coming. The poor tech that takes the call says CHW pays extremely slow and at a very low rate. The counter service center is horrid at best. Worst decision we have made!

Great experience! The appointment for repair was scheduled promptly (2 days) . The technician was very cooperative in narrowing the 4-hour window to a 1-hour phone notification, which saved me hours of wasted wait time. He explained the likely problems with my freezer immediately, then proceeded to repair it. He took the appliance apart and replaced a part, which he had on his truck; it seems this is a fairly frequent issue with this particular model so he keeps replacement parts available. Throughly cleaned up area when work completed. Very professional.

was very nice and did a great job putting in the garage disposal. He told me i had standing water under the cabinet floor and recommended service to help clean it up. He used a device indicating water. i cut hole in floor and there was no water (dry). I felt i could have been taken with false reading had i not checked. Regards, John

I have always had good experiences with CHW, however my A/C has been down for 10 days in Las Vegas in July (106 degree average) and was told yesterday it will be another 7 days before the replacement compressor even arrives. Then it will need to be installed. If everything goes well it will be 18-20 days for the repair. Hardly seems acceptable. I will shop around when my contract expires before simply renewing again.

I cannot believe you charged twice! When I called for service I told the agent I had 2 toilets that were leaking and my garbage disposal wasn't working. When the guys arrived they informed me that they had only one toilet, so I had to call to get an approval for the other toilet. That is what I call FRAUD!!!
