Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I tried replying to your emails but you don’t read them. I don’t like my policy, this is not what I discussed with the representative who called me. Please cancel my policy and don’t cash my payment. On top, you never answer the phone.

I will never recommend Choise home warranty to anyone!! Always have a problem the 40 minute wait time to make a claim , buyer beware stay away from this company I have two years left I wish I can get a refund ....... but was told I can’t ....

Service tech failed to repair refrigerator on first visit. Returned two weeks left later. Stated initial part was bad and would call us that day on details of new parts and when service would be completed. It's been 3 days and no word. Same service we received on the first visit.

My air conditioner went out and I was very worried because of the very high summer temperatures . I called Choice Home Warranty and within a couple of hours, they had arranged an appointment for BW Services to come. That gentleman was so very prompt and efficient! Everything was completed and I once again had my air conditioning within a very short time. Thank you very much!

This company is a fraud. Called to have my microwave repaired. They denied it. Filed an appeal. Never a word. No phone calls retired even though we tried a dozen or more times. No way to treat a customer. Consumer Reports gave it a #1. They need to reevaluate

I love the fact that I can reach a service rep about a claim most of the day. What I don't like is that it takes months to resolve an issue. I have had 2 outstanding issues for over 6 months and 1 just got resolved. They need a better way to vet their technicians. The technicians are great however they tend to assign technicians that are pretty far away. The tech comes out on the first visit, does a diagnosis, has to order a part and never comes back because they have gotten paid. The customer should only pay at the end of the job. Not during the first visit. At this point and time, I'm waiting to see if my dryer gets fixed and how they plan to resolve this issue. Adding... Read More

I have had Choice Home Warranty for about a year and they find a reason not to cover claims. I been paying for my AC repairs myself because they find a way to not cover or blame the customer. Recently I submitted a claim for the AC not cooling properly on the 2nd floor in my house. The 1st technician came to my house did not do anything but talk and check the inside temperature with a $30 Non-Contact Infrared Thermometer With Laser. The problem persisted and I called again to request someone else because I was not happy with the result from the first person.
