Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

They have been expedient in solving my problems, sending experienced businesses to fix the things that need to be fixed.

The work was done quickly and professionally after the service company arrived. It took too long for the service company to schedule the appointment. I'm sure if I called the company directly they would show up sooner.

I have been a customer for over 2 years and have called about a few items. This time my air conditioner unit stopped working and the temperature was 90 degrees with 6 people in my home on a Friday. I went online put in my request received an email stating Andrews Heating and Air would be out Saturday at 3:00. I called the company they got there at 1:00 PM and at 2:30PM my unit was working. I paid $45.00. He was professional and respectful most importantly he called and came early. He was on time. Thank you

The repair was good when it was done. However, you guys took from Sunday that I put in the claim all the way to Wednesday to find someone to do the job. Pretty much four days to get some done is too long plus the repairman took all the way to Saturday to come to my house to do the job. I had a water heater out and a wife with the flu and we went 7 days with could water because Choice could not find someone locally to do the job. I’m sorry but hat is definitely unacceptable for a good rating.

I am not happy at all. I called in and said I was not getting hot water in Master bathroom. That plumber said new hot water heater is needed. It is 15 years old. He submitted everything and you all sent out another company that did not know what they were doing and charged me another $45 for same issue. Your rating above will not let me only pick one star or I would. I am not satisfied in how this was handled. Robyn Anderson 817-846–1996

Absolutely worst experience I have ever had with a warranty company. Had additional coverage for sump pump. After plumber called in to discuss diagnosis the claim speacialist refused to believe cost of the work that needed to be done to fix the problem. After 3 hours and no phone call to discuss the resolution, only 10% of the work was reimbursed. I would never recommend this warranty or company to anyone. Extremely poor customer service worst experience I have ever had. This company is only out for themselves and not the customer.
