Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Placed a call for a dishwasher leak and right away we received an email notification with all the details about the company they contacted and when the service tech would arrive. It even included the phone number to contact the service tech if appointment time needed to be changed. Appointment was set for 3days out, which was a Saturday- Wow! While tech was still at our home and entering info back to Choice Home Warranty ...he said he expected an answer back by text or email any minute. Really?? That’s fantastic! They quickly responded and also sent us a confirmation as well. Incredible.....no hassle, no wait, no worries! Thank you

The technician did a good job on fixing the AC unit. Thank Choice Home Warranty very much.

The plumber was unprofessional during his visit. He was arguing with his wife on the phone while fixing our sink. This lead to him setting items down aggressively and talking at a raised voice. He also parked in the driveway in front of my vehicle that I needed to drive to work. He did not really communicate with us. He rudely stated that we should have had under the sink cleaned out before he arrived. After he completed the job he left a mess in the kitchen and did not dispose of his waste. Later we found out that he unplugged the dishwasher and had not plugged it back in. Overall the job was completed. But not in a professional manner.

It was second time I claimed for my air conditioning issue. Every time, they scheduled the day after my submission; and, the technicians who came were skilled.

Never contacted a plumber for me, had my sewer backup twice , damage to all carpet, have to replace all flooring, when I hired a plumber, and called to get authorization, plumber quoted one price and said it may be more, asked for authorization number and your employee hung up the phone on him.

I had a water leak somewhere in my home. It took a week to get someone to locate it. I had to pay my deductible twice and also had to pay the last tradesman who found the leak $350. I don't know why I pay for your insurance when all you did was post the job. It was not a good experience.

0 stars. The customer service is hands down, the worst I’ve ever experience in my entire life outside of Comcast which is why I don’t deal with them. I called to place a claim at 9 am. The guy who took my claim got smart when I asked him what number did he have on file for me, in order to receive a call back. Then it took forever for that to happen (to schedule someone to come out) m. When I called to speak with a supervisor I spoke with Eric, Clarke and someone else who hung up on me immediately. ALL THREE. So apparently, this company wants your money but does not wish to have their customers actually use the service they pay for. The only bright light was the contractor they hired to... This warranty is terrible! I bought 3 policies paid up front in full and everytime I place a claim it takes weeks for someone to come assess and weeks to come back if it is approved. Very seldom are the claims approved! I will never buy warranties again and will advise family and friends to do the same!!!
