Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

I had a very informatitive phone call with TJ and he was helpful and knowledgeable. I was very impressed with his company and the way they take care of their customers. I ended up signing up for a six year contract. After looking it over, I was sure it would be right for me. Rich

Toilet Repair. Customer Service answered promptly and set up an appt. the assign repair company called the same day to confirm the appt time. Tech Mike called from J&L plumbing ahead to advise of his ETA. Upon arrival he quickly diagnosed and repaired the issue, had all the appropriate parts. The tech was very professional and knowledgeable and educated me on the repair process. He had protective lining to protect my floor from water and cleaned up before leaving. Very positive experience!

This it the second time we've had a claim. The first service provider told us that Choice Home Warranty still owed him a bunch of money for work he has done, and didn't want to order a part for us because he was afraid he wouldn't get paid. The second service provider doesn't know how to schedule. We took off work 3 separate days, waited at home ALL day (because they give you a 5 hour window) and nobody showed up. All blaming each other about the scheduling mix up. Both times the work did end up getting done, but it was a complete hassle. Also, each time the service providers asked if we were Choice Home Warranty Customers they kind of rolled their eyes like they don't like working... Read More

Service provider came late. Appliance was not replaced and cash back clause offered less than 40% of the appliance cost. Not worthy and going to cancel subscription after the year. Terrible experience with the case manager that did not respond my calls. Not a pleasant experience. Mauricio

Unfortunately my first claim was submitted 5 days after we purchased our new home, I was worried about not being covered, made the call and within 24 hrs everything was taken care of. Our experience was better than expected.

I had one appt set for a refrigerator no one called or showed up. I called Choice 2xs and they could not reach the technician either. I guess they should contract with more reliable people. Very disappointed. I had a second appt with a tech from Orlando. I live in Ormond Beach. He had to replace a part but the part he needed was in Jacksonville or Orlando, Choice would not authorize the travel for him to get the part so I am without a refrigerator for a least another week. I think that a HW is a racket, they are not for the customer it's all about the money.
