Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

Our 4 year old AC unit blower motor went out which cause the entire plate & compressor to fail. Choice Warranty has declined saying it is not a covered loss due to our lack of maintenance. How could this be true when they do not have access to the service we use to service our AC? We care cancelling our service and post on every site I can find to warn others. Choice Warranty will find ANY excuse to deny paying a claim.

I did like the promptness of a repairman coming, but now I am waiting for parts now for going on 4 days and I am going away for 1 month and would like my washer and dishwasher fixed. I have been going to laundry mat. and I still do NOT know when they are coming to fix it.

The short story is that we got 4 incidents on our AC over 2 years of warranty coverage and we never got one cent reimbursed. Either the claim was not covered (water leak in AC purge system), or we had to find the repair company ourselves. Needless to say, said repair company was not willing to spend 30 minutes hanging on their call center to get approval. We have not renewed CHW, would not recommend it, and are currently looking for another home warranty company.

Monday afternoon, I filed a claim online for our kitchen refrigerator. It was easy. Within an hour, I had been notified of an appointment for Wednesday. On Tuesday, the repair technician called and said that he was in the area and asked if he could inspect the refrigerator within a 1/2 hour. We agreed and he came and made necessary adjustments to the freezer compartment of the refrigerator. As everything was working properly after the adjustments, the cost to me was the service fee. The technician was friendly, knowledgeable, and arrived, with our concurrence, a day early.

Choice said they would cover and it was also stated coverage on my heating system. They denied my claim after I spent $75 and said the part was excluded. The company they sent out said that part had never been excluded in all their years of dealing with home warranty companies. Shame on them. They are a scam. I tried to answer there response the next day and they expired there url link so these ratings are false.

Have been satisfied with the small claims/repairs to date. Uncertain about major repairs. Customer needs to have patience as latest repair (dishwasher leaking water onto kitchen floor when operating) took eight days before repair. This past winter during a cold spell, I filed a claim for a gas leak at the furnace and natural gas line. We were without heat and I ended up contacting a plumbing company and paying $447 out of pocket.

Not a good beginning. Your sales rep was VERY hard sell and tried to really push us into the senior citizen plan. I had to tell him no thank you 3x. his name is Ralph. When he finally relented he abruptly ended the call by hanging up on me. but not before he charged my CC $480 instead of $40 for the first month, which is what I had explicitly asked him to do. When I tried to call him back to ask him to fix the CC issue he did not return my voice mail. Waiting for your company to make this right, today please.

Our refrigerator/freezer was not cooling properly so we called Choice for service. Since the call was on a Friday we were not expecting service until the following week. Our call was given to John at Refrigerator Plus Repair and set for Monday. On Saturday morning John called to say he had finished early on a call and said he could be there at 11:30 if we were available (yea!) John arrived on time, was very friendly and professional (even wore shoe covers) and immediately diagnosed and repaired the problem. He had the replacement part on his truck so the entire call took less than 1 hour. He was very helpful, explaining everything he was doing as he worked and cleaned up the mess... Read More
