Their plans offer protection against the cost of repair or replacement of major systems and appliances in the home via several plans. Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

Our stove went out on the 4th of July and we filed a claim and we knew it was a holiday, next day we got an email and phone call about service technician coming out. Stove was back working by 10am.

CHW is very quick and responsive and will work with you if there is a problem. Their automated scheduling system is quick but does not always match up with the vendor’s schedule. Any issues I have had were with the vendors and not CHW so a reminder to never take a vendor’s claim denial or estimate if they say something isn’t covered. CHW may not always say yes but they will be fair.

Aaron Malka, your representative, was knowledgable and made my decision easy. He gave me the options and the pros and cons. He described the manner that we can use our own service people as well. There is no age limit on the electrical appliances and a/c unit . I had asked about upgrading to new models if replacement were needed and he explained that you could upgrade. He didn't use intimidation to sell the product but explained the product in great detail. Will recommend him to others.

I have had a really hard time with this company. I have put my trust in them to be there when a big item were to break in my house. With my luck both HVAC units have managed to break this year to the point of needing replacement. Choice has denied to help in any way with either unit. They claim they will not cover corrosion. My units have been well taken care of and maintenance yearly. They are just getting old. Which is why we have a warranty in the first place. They claim to cover $1500, but they won't. They made plenty of excuses and failed to hear our side of the story. We take great care of our things and this company let us down. We were not protected at all. Do not trust... Read More

I filed a claim online for my garbage disposal, which had stopped working. Choice responded and had an appointment set almost immediately. The service man called and scheduled an earlier appointment and fixed the problems quickly.
