Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

Watch out regarding air conditioning/ heat pump coverage! Their FINE PRINT says that corrosion that happens over the years, is NOT covered, just "normal wear and tear." Now, this may be the case with other companies also, I'm not sure.

I recommend Choice Home Warranty to any Active Duty Service Member that owns property. If you have an issue they work hard to expeditiously resolve it and ensure the contractors are held to a standard. Their resolution team is awesome!

The 1st. tech did not come the day he was suppose to. I think it was the 12th of July. I had to call him. He had truck problems. Said he could be at my house 1st. thing Sat. morning. Haha. Then it was set for Mon. the 15th. He didn't show then either. Called Choice home and asked for a different tech. They got Sears. A very nice lady came on the 17th. She ordered parts, but felt like the microwave needed to be pulled out, which she was unable to do by herself. She wasn't quite sure of the problem. New date set for 30th. so a man could come with her. Why not send a man in the 1st. place. So it will be about 3 weeks until I get my microwave fixed, if then. I'm not a happy... Read More

AC quit working on Monday night while sleeping. Made a claim on Tuesday morning at 6:00 AM. Choice has a service tech at my house by 3:30 PM and issue was fixed by 4:00 PM. Now that's service!

The 2Morrows technician was able to determine and fix the issue with my AC and thermostat. He even pointed out some issues that 2 previous companies had overlooked or ignored. I would definitely recommend them and may use them again in the future.

They DO NOT COVER AIR CONDITIONERS OR CEILING FANS even though they claim to. Replacement of my 28 year old AC cost me $7000. They didn’t even have the courtesy to inform me . They just denied the claim from the technician
