Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

I just renewed my Choice Home Warranty plan and was glad I did. I remembered a couple of years ago my garbage disposal went out and they put in a better one than I had the very next day. They are very professional and fast if something dose go wrong. I highly recommend Choice Home Warranty.

Three times in the last year they told me the part was not covered although the appliance was: (1) bad gasket in dishwasher; (2) gas burner would not light, told me the burner cap wasn't covered; (3) pressure reducing valve in heating system. None were covered even though they were just basic parts. The cost to me for the needed repairs was greater than my year's premium. What did I Pay for??

They are the worst company. I had Choice home warranty and the service is terrible. called for service on Air Conditioning & Heating Unit and original they did not have a company in the Mobile Area. Once, they located one the service agent told me my heater unit needed to be clean that there was nothing wrong with my unit. Heater unit would not work when needed so I call someone else to come and check unit. It cost me $150.00 dollars to get repaired. I needed a new part and so I purchased the part and had it put on. Heater was not repaired by Choice Home warranty. Also on a different occasion I called Choice Home warranty about my oven, the oven would not heat pass 200 degrees. The... Read More

When my AC unit went out, I dreaded making the phone call because I thought I would be given the runaround. Instead, I was meant with professionalism from the beginning until the end. Everyone was knowledgeable and within days my unit is back in full swing. I'm very happy and recommend Choice as the best choice. Even the bill was no surprise. Thank You all.

My microwave was non repairable and the specific issue was not covered in the warranty. Choice warranty compensated me to help cover the cost of replacement! An excellent resolution!

I would not recommend this company. Service call for my ac which needed freon and may have a leak. Tech told me Choice will not cover the freon cist and they will not cover the leak test! Basically; they only cover the service call. BAD Company

Very happy with Choice Home Warranty. Called for service for dryer by end of day was contacted with service's name and number to set up appointment. Called set up appointment with L.A.J. Appliance Service the very next morning. Showed up on time, very polite and professional. Determined dryer needed major parts said Choice Home Warranty would be contacting me on whether to repair or replace. By end of day they contacted me said they were sending check so I could purchase a new one.

Everything went smoothly with my claim. The appliance repair man was very nice. The only thing I had to do was watch for emails and make a couple of phone calls.

Worst Company Ever!! I filed a claim last year and I feel that I have not been treated fairly. My air conditioner quit working during the hottest part of the summer and I called your company to get it fixed. They could not find or had anyone in my area, so they told me to call a local technician and have them contact your company to notify them with the problem and an estimate. I contacted a local air conditioner company and they sent a service technician to my house and diagnosed the problem. The owned then attempted to contact your company to give them the problem and estimate for repair. He attempted several times and spent hours on hold and trying to talk to someone, but he could...
