I have had a terrible experience with State Farm Auto insurance and like so many people have said, cannot understand why they have such a high rating. I was hit by a motorcycle that ran a red light and the motorcycle when into the front windshield and over the car. The car was not drivable and the initial estimate for repair was $7400 before the car was broken down in the shop. I know nothing about cars but I knew that all the dents on the top of the car as well as the entire windshield and the front right end and wheel well were badly damaged. After 30+ years they dumped me for to many claims, I have several drivers in my house one hit a dog and the other was young and got waved out and was hit. Used the roadside assistance oops you pay for it but you can't use it. So we have been dumped they will keep my house and my one car because it's guarantee for renewal but the rest are being dumped. They think I will keep one of my 7 cars with them and my house. They are smoking too much crack these days. Been stabbed in the back.
The Drive Safe and Save is a joke. I have a pickup truck that sits almost of the time. Maybe gets driven 100 miles a year. Here is what I did. I removed the transmitter from the truck and put it in my pocket as I walk two miles every day. My rating for accelerating is C+ and braking is C. Turns are A and B+. Accelerating C+. Give me a break! I notice that on my car the discount stays pretty much good until I get near my renewal and then the discount drops off to down below $10.
We have had State Farm bundling everything since we were married 50 years ago. I think this insurance is as good as your agent. A good agent is an advocate for the client. I have never seen my current agent but she had a very competent & customer savvy front person. Since that person left after about 10 years, I am very disappointed. Nobody reviews my insurance or finds the discounts for us. I have to initiate and even when they are applied the rates still increase. I am thinking of looking at Shelter Insurance where the girl who was so customer friendly went. How often are the agents claiming credit that their staff deserves?
Perhaps we were spoiled by Country Companies, which was both less expensive and more responsive when we had a claim, but after deciding to try State Farm for a couple of years, we have now moved on. SF provided by a significant margin the worst claim experience my wife and I have ever encountered: On 11/25/2017 another car ran into the side of ours when we were stopped at a stop sign. Liability on the part of the other driver was established at the scene (SF later acknowledged that that was never in question). I have been with SF for 1 1/2 years. I like to pay one yr. full, as I did in 4/18. Home ins. and Auto. I just got a bill for $70 saying due in the beginning of Nov. ??????? I've already paid for the Year. The agent made a note saying it was paid for . I've had a terrible time with their book work. I got an email a while saying if you pay a year in advance you'd get a discount, my agent knew nothing about that, still have the mail.
Been insured with State Farm for over 27 years on homes and autos. I moved from Indiana to Florida almost 3 yrs ago...my rates have increased 5-10% every 6 months since moving to Florida, whereas I barely had even a $3 increase each YEAR, if any at all on the same vehicle, while living in Indiana. I believe agents, and their greediness, have A LOT to do with any insurance experience. I used the roadside assistance coverage for the first time in those 27 yrs and the experience was painless...I’ll never change another tire myself again, as the cost of coverage is pennies!
State Farm is a rip off company you will pay more in premiums and will not get it back in return. The sad part is I finally found an Agent who is really good and that I like and his office staff is great in helping you. But SF as a whole sucks. Experience a total loss on February 22, 2018 they called finance company for payoff and were told that this payoff quote was good for a certain date. Also I had a refund coming from the extended warranty that I cancelled after the loss. SF waited and was holding the payoff check and just sent it last week finance company received it today 3/28/18. Unfortunately I had a horrible experience with a representative on the phone named Mary/Maria because she had a horrible attitude and was simply not willing to help me. I don’t understand why she had to be so rude? Does she not realize people are normally calling because something bad has happened to them (loss in family, car accident, etc. ) she should learn to control her tone and gain professionalism in order to represent this company.
The agent we worked with are awesome , but the company is not. We had one accident and one comprehensive claim, someone put the comprehensive one as at-fault. So they rate us bad risk and would renew us. I have been asked them the reason , but they just said that would not renew us. When I was looking for new insurance company , the new agent I talked to, held someone in StateFarm, finally they correct our record , they put comprehensive one as at-fault!!!! Don't mess up our records. We are not bad apple, someone in the company is.
My experience with State Farm has been very negative. I would never recommend their insurance for the following reason: Over four months ago, one of their insured was involved in a hit and run that resulted in catastrophic damage to our vehicle. The vehicle was a total loss and we paid out of pocket for a rental for one week. During this time, the detective was able to identify the driver and State Farm accepted liability. While we were able to obtain payout for the vehicle through our insurance team's subrogation department, we are still waiting for State Farm to reimburse the rental. I don't understand how this company is rated so highly. It is complete BS. I was in a motorcycle accident and it was bear to get State Farm to process my paper work. I had to resubmit it multiple time. I am also trying to move my mutual fund in out of state fame because the front end fees they charge are ridiculous and it is a pain to say the least. I have had my paper work rejected 3 time with no notification and zero help to get the correct forms in. In fact every time I have been made to resubmit the forms, I ask if everything is in order and Stat Farm tells me yes. Come to find out an few days later it is not. Also, the people are rude at the call centers.
I have been with State Farm for 35 years. An elderly man totaled my car. It was totaled because the frame was bent. He had cut rate insurance so I switched to my insurance. State Farm has been horrible, even though they will not have to pay a penny. I am a retired life insurance actuary. I did not accept any money and filed with the insurance commissioner. I am fortunate because I was able to cash purchase another car and I wasn't injured. State Farm uses Autosource for vehicle valuation. My car was described as a heavily damaged smoker car. We were customers for many years. Overall, our experience was excellent. Their agents were excellent and very responsive., especially with auto coverage, and with home owners on shingle replacement after two hail events. A year later I had a minor claim (they paid $850) on home owners and without warning the underwriters cancelled our homeowners. I think they should be more upfront about their cancellation policy.
Stay away from this agency and State Farm. They are useless in all matters. They are especially useless when it comes to problems and issues. If you have a "Payment plan", they will charge you a different amount each month with no explanations whatsoever. When asked for an explanation as to WHY each month's payment number is different, they don't provide an answer other than they will look into it. They never do and they never get back to you. This agency and State Farm has now caused me to lose 10 days of work, and has forced my son to miss 10 days of school because of their incompetence. State Farm is absolute Garbage! Make sure you check your motorcycle that you have Medical coverage, because they told me they don't even offer it after I got in a motorcycle accident, which is BS. The other coverages values for home is significantly less than other in the same market, BEWARE.
I have been with State Farm for 41 years. I had Calvin Unfred in Maryland and when my wife and I moved to Dallastown PA. we had Dee Forney and Dee retired and Rick Bair took over the office. After my first interaction and dealing with Rick Bair over a possible Homeowners claim an integrity issue occurred. My wife and I were going to leave State Farm, but decided to go with another State Farm agent.
Worst company ever if you have a claim for homeowners. I have no idea how this website gives them a high rating in that area. Consumers need to look at the many other sites that give them bad ratings.

I had SF car insurance for over 50 years, with only about 4 claims in all that time. I also have had my Homeowners policy with them (combined, off and on) for about 15 years. You would think they would offer better loyal customer, senior, or military discounts than they do. With the gigantic increases this year (Homeowners went up over $600 py) for the first time, I am seriously considering going to a cut rate company so we can afford at least some coverage. Very disappointed in SF after being a loyal customer for so long!
Yes ! They are horrible on paying claims . On a 2021 vehicle they want the body man to rig it up and put used parts on to save them money . Also they try to make you use a body shop in their network.
Angel Hall state farm ins agency/Palm coast Florida....Brianna took all the informations from me for Auto and Homeowners policies! She was very friendly,,efficient and pleasant.. Although my coverage is not in effect yet,I feel that I would like the services of this agency! It's so close to home but first and foremost Ifeel very welcomed and important! Thank you

I have been a happy State Farm customer since 2001 (18 yrs). While rates fluctuate, we've never strayed. I have shopped on more than one occasion, but never made a switch. My agent and staff know me and are always responsive and helpful.
I was a bit frustrated a few years back when my daughter was in a very minor accident and State Farm just paid the claim to a fraud without any questions. Our rates went up just a bit, but that was to be expected.
Overall, I am very happy and have no plans to change!
This is a awful company. Claimed my accident on collision and not uninsured motorist. Been
trying to fix it for yrs. They said it was a mistake and sent me $300 for the difference between
collision and uninsured motorist. Plus $147 for the same difference for the rental car. Sent me a letter
saying that I was not the party primarily at fault. I was not at fault in any way but will not send
me a letter that states that.
I dont understand how they came to this overall star rating for statefarm but we had a tree fall on our brand new trailer in a big storm we had on nov 5 come to find out statefarm doesnt have adjusters to handle a speciality vehicle like our 14×7 pull behind trailer they rely on a 3rd party company for this they also left it up to us to find a place that would look at our totalled trailer to tell the third party people that its totaled after many phone calls to the claims team what a joke im told a different story every phone call but the bottom line is they dont have what they need this whole process has been very frustraiting and it really does not need to be this way we thought we were...
