Coverage - 5 / 5

As a leader in the auto insurance industry, Progressive offers some of the most comprehensive coverages in the market, including basic and additional plans, as well as loan payoff option or gap insurance for drivers whose cars have been declared a total loss. The company was also the first auto insurer to introduce pet injury coverage for cats and dogs. $50 from your collision and comprehensive deductible for every claim-free policy period. Auto policy periods last six months. In many respects, Progressive has a leg up on the competition, particularly with regards to usage-based insurance options or pay-as-you-drive insurance. The company’s Snapshot program is among the first of its kind and allows drivers to obtain excellent discounts based on their actual driving habits. Customers merely have to download an app and drive, the company will then evaluate the users’ driving habits for the first policy period of approximately six months and offer discounts based on the data collected. Another excellent feature customers are sure to enjoy from this insurer is the “Name Your Price Tool” which offers prospective clients different rates and coverage options based on the price they can afford to pay or expect to pay. To use this feature, users simply have to request a quote, either online or by phone and provide some basic information regarding their vehicle and driving habits. Among the companies additional coverages and benefits are Progressive’s roadside assistance program, a loan or lease payoff option, a rental reimbursement coverage, a custom parts and equipment coverage, rideshare coverage (for Uber and Lyft drivers), and its deductible savings bank feature, which allows policyholders to save $50 on collision and comprehensive coverages for every policy period they remain claim free.

Claims Satisfaction & Customer Experience - 5 / 5

Although Progressive has yet to be accredited by the Better Business Bureau, they hold an A+ rating with the organization. As of the date of this review, Progressive Corporation holds one out of five stars in the BBB’s customer reviews section. There have also been little over two thousand complaints filed against the business, with most relating to problems with the company’s products and services. According to the NAIC, Progressive has a casualty insurance complaint ratio of 1.11, only slightly higher than the median score for private passenger insurance in 2016. For a lender of its size and market share, these statistics are quite commonplace. Despite minor negative feedback, Progressive Corporation remains among the most solid alternatives in the current auto insurance market, mostly due to its size, industry experience, and solid financial strength and stability.

I have to agree with the last comment. I heard that Progressive was listed for a best rate, and I completely disagree and felt that I needed to speak up. Please think twice before changing, because it turned out to be a huge inconvenience for me. I purchased from this company last year, added Roadside Assistance (I paid extra for this service), used this two times, once for myself when my control arm snapped and another for my daughter’s battery, which was dead (it was winter), so she called for help. I have a credit score over 800 and no accidents for 30 years and they cancelled me. The reason: I used my roadside assistance too many times and neiter was an emergency. I only had... Read More

The quality of Progressive’s services, including claims handling, is notable. However, when you have an unavoidable accident, they make no effort to investigate the circumstances and cancel your coverage immediately. Thus, my one-star rating is even higher than they deserve. I could NEVER recommend this company!

Was involved in a MVA where the other driver blew thru a stop sign and struck my vehicle. Other vehicle was insured with Progressive. It’s been two weeks & I ‘m still not hearing much from them. However they did try their intimidation by letting me know just because I was driving on a state highway and was not at fault, they didn’t have to pay 100% damage. This is not the level of attention I received with a previous Progressive experience

This company does not take care if they client. After filing a claim, it took almost a month for them to make a decision as to whether i would be covered or not. They never answered the phone, assigned me a claim rep who wouldn't and couldn't answer questions I had so they simply dodged the phone calls. They canceled my policy without telling me and notified me days later while I'm out of town thinking I was covered. They went ahead and looked at my vehicle, after telling me they had to investigate and were not going to pay the wrecker service for picking up the vehicle only I guess to find out that it cost more than they were willing to pay so they then tell me they suspect fraud... I have been a customer through Progressive for over a year. When I bought a new car, I wanted to switch providers to see if I could get a better rate. When I called to cancel me, they transferred me to their retention department and they would not simply let me cancel my policy. I gave up since it seemed to be such a hassle to switch providers. Well, today my tire goes flat and I did not realize that this was not on my policy. I call in and they tell me I will have to pay $80 to have someone tow my car just a couple of miles. I am not sure why it takes them 5 days to add this assistance to my policy. They were unable to make any exceptions on reimbursement on the this charge.... Read More

I switched from Allstate to Progressive because the cost was several hundred dollars less than I was spending. Everything was done on the telephone, including paymetn of the premium through my credit card. After the policy was to take effect, Progressive sent me an Insurance Application to sign. Two aspects of the quoted coverage were missing from the application. I have e-mails with the quote for the full coverage I requested. The agent told me that he could add the additional coverage for an additional cost. I would not sign the application. I am now shopping for another insurance carrier. I feel that I was the victim of bait and switch. I have rached out to the company... Read More

My policy was canceled for no reason. I finished by phone which was good but after I finished by phone then I got a different deal up and down by different customer representatives. The date I called was Sunday just to covered Monday morning. My agent told me the average full coverage price was $150.00 but I finished $240.00. so whats wrong with this insurance company?

I was hit from behind in the highway by an uninsured motorist and was injured. Speaking to a rep after filing a claim she told me my “rates would go up unless I DROP the claim”. I pay for insurance but get penalized for using it due to no fault of my own!!

I have been a progressive customer for several years and have maintained a Liability coverage only on a12 year old jeep liberty. I own my home, have an 800+ credit rating, drive 25+ miles daily round trip to work and my last accident was seven years ago where another driver slammed my car from behind into the car in front of me and no speeding tickets in the last 5 years. My problem is that the guy who hit me and totaled my Jeep was also a Progressive Insurance customer. Over the past month settlement has been slow and they are cheap even given it is there responsibility and still hasn't been settled. I purchased a 2016 Highlander XLE with 21,000 miles which had a previously repaired... Read More

This has to be the biggest joke ever written. There is no way Progressive Insurance has anything positive written by anyone who has had them. The ONLY strong customer service point is that they will insure you when others will not.

I HAVE HAD PROGRESSIVE FOR OVER 8 YEARS, NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT. ONE FENDER BENDER IN 2017, AND THEN THIS YEAR SOMEONE DRIVING WRECKED MY PARKED CAR, WHICH HAD THE SAME INSURANCE WITH FULL COVERAGE. DATE OF LOSS AUG 2018, ITS JANUARY 8TH 2019, AMD WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR OUR CLAIM. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, BUT I GUESS YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

We love Progressive! They have always given us prompt, courteous service. They return calls when they say they will. Our auto body shop said they really like working with Progressive. They arranged our rental car very efficiently as well as working with the auto body shop. They are also great about checking on us after the repairs. We will keep our car, truck, and motorhome with Progressive.

In December, 2018, I paid a premium for six months of automobile coverage with Progressive. Subsequently, I was notified that my premium was being raised about $400 per year due to being rear-ended while driving a public transit bus at work, under no liability to Progressive. After contacting Progressive and being notified that this error in under-writing was not going to be corrected, I told Progressive that I was no longer their customer and sought alternative insurance with GEICO. The GEICO policy began covering me January 1, 2019. In January, I became permanently disabled from my public transit work and, in February, sold my vehicle that had previously been insured by Progressive. From... Read More

I have been with progressive for the past 5 years! I thought it is very good until last couple weeks I called for roadside assistance (which I also added to my policy) and they told me I use the road side assistance more than twice. So they can’t help me.. Today I called asking why I owe $156.00, customer rep told me that because I added in a car then took it off 3 days later. Then added in again 5 days later.. OMG! My trust for progressive went down...so disappointing

Took 27 days to get an answer back from Progressive. That's right, 27 day's the vehicle was in the shop while the Progressive adjusters tried to find something relating to a mechanical issue so they could deny the claim. 27 days the shop owner had his service bay tied up while holding the adjusters hands multiple times during their inspections and explaining to them how everything works. After several inspections and 27 day's later, they had to lie about finding something to try and support their claim for denial. The shop owner told them it was fuel contamination from the beginning, which is covered. But the adjusters(not mechanics), worked against me and hindered the complete... Read More

This is the only company I know that required a proof of garaging and I understand it's for a good reason fraud and all that but they decided that when I moved from my old address that they would back date my new address to when I started the insurance coverage at my prior address. They refused to help rectify the situation. This company loved to swindle money from people and claim "its company rules" Trying to communicate with customer service is like pulling teeth.

After bieng T boned at a 4 way stop a few weeks ago in a hit and run I filed a police report and a insurance report that same hour it happened. Luckily I got the guys license plate! So I was so sure I would be covered no problem right... WRONG progressive was no help in pursuing the opposing insurance and thus they suggested I pay for the damages?!? What?!? Not to mention every time I try calling my claim representative, No answer. Absolutely Terrible, Giving them 1 star is too much credit. I will never go back to this insurance
