Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

My first claim came about 2 months into my new contract with CHW. It was an easy process and went very smooth. I was surprised how quickly my issue got resolved, especially since my dryer broke on a Sunday. Overall, the experience was better than what I could have expected.

I recently became a Choice customer after 15 years with Home Shield Warranty. I left the previous company because each year at renewal my coverages were reduced and the premium stayed the same. Choice offered me more coverage at a slightly lesser rate. After two months we had a air conditioner go out. We filled a report online and within 2 days we had the unit back up and running. service was quick, professional and my service fee less that what Home Shield charged. I'm a very happy camper.

I had a purchased this warranty for a piece of mind instead I was under a lot of stress. I initially put in a claim due to my air conditioner not working and they sent someone out here to inspect. the inspector away told me that my home warranty would deny getting a further inspection of why it was faulty, mind you that I paid for a policy for 6 years. speaking to the representative they indicated that someone like me it would be over looks and covered for the $287 to find if there was a leak of freon in my system. after two days a two techs came out and said that there was a leak and that they submitted a claim to choice which in turn my say there is corrosion to deny the claim which they... Our A/C went out on the weekend that My Mother passed away. Bayshore A/C and Heating was assigned the work order on Friday. They called me immediately and came out on Saturday morning. They diagnosed the problem and fixed the squirrel cage. Sunday evening the same thing happened with the squirrel cage coming off the motor shaft. I called on Sunday evening and Monday morning the tech came to fix the problem. Our family was coming to our house after the funeral at 6 in the evening. I have Choice Home warranty. My AC unit quit. They said it is not covered because the unit shorted to the ground. The house/unit is 6 years old. When I had issues with a second unit they said I had to pay $145 for diagnostics since the unit leaked Freon and is not covered. I paid $145 diagnostic fee and then they refused to pay for repair saying the coil and thermal expansion valve repair and condenser are not covered. So I ended basically paying for all parts and labor totaling $3700 and they paid $500 for being a good customer. They are a great company until you have a serious repair request. I am cancelling my remaining 5 years coverage.

When my washer stopped working I called CHW and they were able to set me up with a technician in my area quickly. The technician was very nice and professional. Unfortunately my washer couldn't be saved but CHW provided me with a check to put towards a new one! The monthly payment for this service is very affordable and I'm so glad that I have this coverage!!!

This company is dishonest. Once my contract is over I won't renew and will do my best to discredit them when I get the opportunity too. My name is Mario Perricone and I live in Denver, CO. I paid extra for an unlimited plan with Choice Home Warranty (CHW) because I learned of a cap that most companies have if they have to pay out to replace an appliance. I had them remove the cap and I paid a higher annual contract to get that unlimeted coverage package. I have an AC unit that keeps tripping my breaker and two of their techs have now told them the unit needs to be replaced because repairing the unit will be expensive and in their opinion not worth it and there is no guarantee the...
