Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

The customer service rep was short and rude. He had no personality at all. I did set up a warranty with the company and that was because of the fact that the policy from what I've read so far appear to be good but the customer service stink

I do not think it is acceptable to have to wait up to 24 hours to hear back from a technician. The claim was for the breaker tripping and shutting off the furnace. This needs immediate response. This is a rental property I own with a tenant concerned that he does not have heat. Now I am forced to find a local technician instead of Choice Home doing the work. I am very disappointed that I will need to pay the claim myself and then wait 30 days to be reimbursed. I paid for a 3 year contract for two residences so that I would not have this inconvenience. We called on November 29th to request someone to repair our Fujitsu Split unit as there was no heat. We have spoke to them several times and still no one has come out to repair or even look at our unit and it is now December 27th. We have been experiencing freezing temps and even snow. We have 6 kids and the company doesn't seem to be too worried about doing their job. We were told today after calling yet again that they would widen the search for someone to come out and look at it. Really, shouldn't that have been done weeks ago. My wife called this morning to sign up for a year plan. We were excited about the service. The customer service rep then offered a 6 year plan for 1750 with $400 installment payments. My wife asked the customer service agent to hold while she discussed this offer with me. The customer service agent began to raise his voice and pressure my wife to sign up for the 6 years of service. We asked to have some time to discuss the plan and the customer service agent became angry. This was very unprofessional and I am considering asking fora refund and cancelling the plan.
