Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I did not want to leave a bad review so I need summing clarification on the cost of your service I was told by one of your sales rep, that the cost per month was to be 30.00 and the cost for a servic call would 40.00 is there a mistake per your sales person or did I miss understand his statement. Well I just switched today from another company, but I can say that I like it already. The fact that I get an account associate to communicate with instead of a number to call and sit on hold for hours is a great improvement. Time will tell if I made a good decision and switched. Hopefully I will not need to use it, but it is worth paying for the extra insurance that if something does fail and needs fixed or replaced.

Stay clear of CHW. They have excuses and called me a liar that the problem was pre-existing, which means I was not using my heat for 60 days during this cold spell just to wait to put a claim. THEY SUCK!!!! Requested my money back so let's see if they stand by what they say, Not holding my breath.

Biggest rip-off company. My heating pump runs constantly when the temperatures drop, it will cut of and come back on during the day when it is not that cold outside. I filed a claim, a tech came out and informed me that the inside Honeywell thermostat is defaulted and they don't make Honeywell thermostats anymore. We just purchased this thermostat and installed it. The tech also said that the thermostat was in the wrong place and should be moved. The thermostat was installed when the house was build 18 years ago and the location was never a problem. The tech never checked the outside unit. My husband call first, he was told our acct was canceled and have NO coverage as we have a plumbing prob. He called me and told me. I said no as I paid up until March 2018. I got home recalled had a wonderful guy, he said your policy #you gave me is canceled, then he said YOU have 3 accts. Why I have renewed 3 times, so I was assigned 3 different accts. Poor business policy to renewed a client, and give out different policy numbers. So lets see what if I thought I didnt have a policy, I just handled it myself, I would have not used your service and paid for a problem that I am covered for. Completely unable to get through to the "existing claims" support center. Phone transfers to dead air and no one ever picks up (not even any music). "New claims" and sales say they can only transfer me to "existing claims" and can't help me. Unable to get anyone to understand that the "existing claim" line is broken and needs repaired. Transferring me only sends me to a black hole. Finally got someone on the "new claims" line to take my contact information for a manager to call me back. 6 hrs later and the claims center is closed with no call back... Frustrating. Choice used to have good customer support in 2016, but something changed in 2017 and they are terrible now.

I called and was disconnected twice while waiting for an agent to come on line. I dropped on star from the rating because of this inconvenience. After speaking with your agent, I was completely satisfied with the courtesy, patience, knowledge, and competence demonstrated by her. I was given the information and advice I required to make a decision about a repair submission, my current insurance plan, and much more. I am very happy with the service department, once the phone equipment established contact.

When I placed my claim the person I spoke with did not tell me that if my item needed to be replaced, it would not be covered. After 24 hours neither one of my two claims have been picked up. I decided to go with the reimbursement plan in order to speed up the process. The repairman and I waited on the phone for an hour to speak with the authorization department only to be told that the replacement would not be covered. I have paid for your service and should not have to find a repair person myself. That is what I am paying your company to do. This is the first time I have placed a claim and am very sorry that I am stuck with your company until 2023.

Your computer went wrong by selecting a package for a home I'm trying to get rid of. I called in and issue was resolved. And I selected to quote on a new house which we had bought in SC.
