Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

My claim was resolved quickly. The process was easy. The plumber sent was great, he showed me exactly what the problem was and what he did to fix it.

My sincere thought about your company is you are out to take people money and leave then hanging for any reason not to have repairs done, your contract is set up to your advantage only, often leaving customers hanging in the balance.

I just moved from another warranty that was giving horrible service and denying coverage. I have been happy with the service from Choice Home Warranty on another property I own. I called in a claim in the morning and they came out and fixed it the same day. I will move my other 4 homes over to Choice when my current warranties expire.

Here is my complaint with Choice Home Warranty via Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau. I have not received payment for my cooktop and they refuse to repair my cooktop. This is a dishonest and unethical company. Consumer Affairs Complaint: My induction cooktop was malfunctioning. We made a claim to have it repaired. Their tech cane out and assessed the appliance. We later received an email for Choice Home Warranty stating they were not going to repair the cooktop. They offered us $250 for a replacement. Of course we declined their offer and asked them to repair it since they weren’t offering us fair market value and we couldn’t purchase a new one for $250. I then called... Read More

The contractors you provide are a direct reflection of CHW. Unfortunately, some of them reflect negatively on the company; specifically, Home Tech Appliances. Getting them to keep appointments and completing the repair correctly and in a timely fashion seems to be a problem for them. There is never an attempt for them to make a repair on the initial visit, only to pick up the service fee. As a result, I rate CHW as AVERAGE

Submitted the request on Friday the 2nd of November. Did not get anyone to come out until 7 days later if this happens in the dead of winter we would freeze to death. This was the absolute worst service I have ever had. We are in our 60s and are very disappointed and have told all of our friends about how we were treated. Many were considering joining. My rating would be a 1 STAR

I typed in a phone number and not 2 seconds later someone was calling me on the phone. I asked, "Seriously? I haven't submitted anything." He said, "Jesus Christ, calm down. " I be using them. They must be desperate for business.
