Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I am not satisfied with either of my claims both my garbage disposal unit and my refrigerator. neither have been concluded at all.

Dryer drum would not turn. Repairman came yesterday and told me to just push a button and manually turn the drum to get it started and that should do it if I have the problem again. Just went to use the dryer and it would not turn on. Obviously there is something more to the issue as to why the drum will not turn on its own, which was not even checked even after I questioned him.

I have three plans with this company. One for my home and two rentals. Had an issue with a plumbing valve. They denied the claim saying they don’t handle frozen pipes. Never once did I nor the plumber state a frozen pipe. They told me to write a dispute and the plumber needed to contact them again. They then denied the dispute making up some other reason which again was not the complaint just to avoid having to pay for services. I gave up. But they will not get renewed this year. And for those claiming they pay out a settlement when something breaks. That’s not how it should work. Very difficult to get a plumber to come out to fix a toilet. Had to wait over 48 hours before someone even contacted me. Then the plumber promised he would be out and stood me up for 2 days. Another search was stared by Choice and I finally got my toilet fixed (which was a 10 minute job) , 7 days later. Choice blamed the plumber, however Choice is who I deal with and the plumber is contracted by them. This is totally unacceptable!

I have called several times regarding the same plumbing issues- water valve overflowing in front of house, toilets not flushing, water bubbling in drains when water is running in another room, water backup in tubs, sewer rising in tubs, water leaking from pipes in laundry room. CHW is good at customer service and dispatching someone to come out. However, the underlining issue haven't been fixed hence have called several times about the same issues above. When tech comes they flush the water valve in front of house and less than 3 weeks later issue has reoccurred. I need CHW to have a tech to find out why this is repeatedly happening and to fix it.
