Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

The technician from Ultra Heating/Cooling, Mr.Jacob was most unprofessional person. He entered in my house and immediately ask for money. In return I asked him, you here to collect my money from me? Instead, asking me, about my problems? He said "First. I need my $45.00 then we go in details" After I gave my credit card he told me, he will be charging me $3.00 more to process my card. I told him he can leave my home, I will talk to Choice Home Warranty. He called his manager, manager asked him to waived my $3.00.Then he went upstairs to check my thermostat. Choice Home Warranty has been the best thing I could do for "peace of mind"! They are professional and efficient on all inquiries and claims. When my subscription was coming to an expiration date they sent a "gentle" reminder rather than let it lapse-Any interactions with the personnel has been wonderful-easy to communicate with,sincere and extremely efficient . I would recommend this service to anyone!

It was disappointing that the initial company cancelled last minute and then was a no show, however when we called to request a different company the representative on the phone was very helpful and supportive. The second company, Prodigy, was excellent. John was responsive, respectful and professional. He got the job done well and was very dependable.

I'm unable to make any comments or ratings at this time. The matter is still open, pending my sales claim. However, first of all, it took 2 days for a technician to evaluate my microwave. It took another 2 days to hear from Choice. I was disappointed that Choice would only give me $169 for an 1 year old microwave that is over $300 msp. I had declined this and waited another day to hear from Choice. Besides purchasing a new microwave, I had to pay $45 for the technician, and $59 for delivery. Now I'm told that my reimbursement can take up to 30 days. Why so long? If I was approved, why not send the check sooner? Bottom line is that not only did it cost me almost $400, I will also... The service man you sent out was very nice and so very intelligent. He would of been the one who fixed the washer, however the claim was denied. You offered and I accepted the $299.00 you offered, however you know it will not buy a new washer. I am a retired lady on a fixed income and have no extra money to put towards a washer. Along with that I am disabled with a bad back. So here I am with no washer, a very bad back, and having to load cloths in and out of my car 4 times. Thank you.

Central heating was inop. Appointment was made within 30 minutes of time claim was called in. Technician was at the house and repair completed in approximately 1 1/2 hours of the time I called Choice. Amazing!!
