Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Would give no stars if allowed. The first technician never showed and did not return my calls. The next scheduled appointment was made for mother’s day; fortunately the technician recognized this and move the date up. This technician understood that this issue was related to normal water and tear and the age of the appliance (25 years). However Choice Warranty has a clause that says doors and frames on a microwave aren’t part of what’s required to make a microwave work. So claim denied. And according to the claim person she was vested with all authority to conclude the transaction at the authorization of the Presdand CEO, and therefore had no supervisior or anyone in authority over... My Air condition broke and I called the choice home warranty . Technician attended and identified that the condenser fan motor is faulty. After that there were no information . Status of claim indicated repair has been approved . After 5 days technician called me and said I have call carrier air conditioning company and the part is still under company warranty. I have no clue where to contact . After a lot of internet research figured out that only licenses professional HVAC company can claim the part . Individual people cannot claim the part from the carrier company . Home choice warranty was called and informed about this , but they could not help me in anyways in obtaining the part .... Service man showed up in a timely manner but we had to wait a week for a motor and when he came to install it ( over 4 hours ), he found that he needed 2 pulleys to complete the repair but needed authorization to get the parts. With the weekend we will have to wait till Monday (hopefully) to complete the repair. The claim was submitted on May 6 and we still have no dryer

I have a 17 year old air conditioner that is leaking freon. Never used a home warranty before. Didn't think it would pay off. WRONG!! I submitted a claim and in no time I was talking to Nick with Chesterfield mechanical heat and air. He came and checked my system out. The same day I called!! Almost 7:00pm. Besides being thorough and professional, he was a really nice guy. The next morning he submitted an itemized list of repairs to Choice. It was approved. The same day it was submitted!! So; in less than 24 hours, I called Choice home warranty with a claim; Nick from Chesterfield mechanical came out, checked the system, sent in a list of necessary repairs, and it was approved. Good grief!!... Read More
