Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

CHW didn't show up for our first appt. and we had to call a few times to reschedule the appt. It took over 10 days to have someone come out for our AC unit - very disappointed. We paid up front for 4 years and this is the kind of service we get. Michelle & Brian Allison

this company just looks for new customer. As soon as I purchased the plan; I called my agent to upgrade my plan and modify that and yet to receive a call from him. I called the call center; as soon as they find out i am existing customer ; they immediately transferred my to the automated system without asking and willing to get my information and help me on my concerns area. even when I asked that wanting to talk to the supervisor!! never recommend this insurance to anyone and i will cancel my plan as soon as i get some one on the line.

A/C failed during Florida heat and humidity and after a claim was submitted a service technician was on site within 20 hours of claim submittal. Issue was addressed and fixed.

the second tech really worked hard to find the issue. and resolved it. did mention the clog did go somewhere. just to keep a watch on the drainage. kudos to david.

I was really surprized with how quickly the appointment was made really great communication when service provider was late we called choice and within a few minutes the agent was there we were really skeptical about signing up since the previous company we used was so terrible but I'm glad we did keep up the good work

We have been out of hot water for 7 days now. Choice Home Warranty sent two of their contractors: Hustle and Flow and Valley Ridge, to come to our home to do diagnosis. Then CHW emailed me that they are still collecting specification information of our hot water heater uniter I contacted Valley Ridge and they told me that they have provided all the information CHW requested and the ball in on their court. I don't understand why this is taking so long, especially when we don't have hot water to even take a shower

First, I was not able to choose less than a 5 star review. That is NOT my cover, I'd give CHW about a 2.5 star review. The first time I used it was for a dishwasher. They were scheduled out a week, fine, we can live without a dishwasher for a week. Wednesday my AC went out and off course we had 90-95° weather. They dispatched 2 companies, the first one was a week out, the second even further out. The way the system works is the not the most effective. They put your call out and contractors can pick.
