Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I got a scheduling notification within a couple hours of submitting my claim. It was for the next day, which I thought was great. The local technicians (at Below Zero) called me and said they could be at my house within 15 minutes if I was available. Thankfully I was. They were right on time. Quickly diagnosed the problem. Fixed it. And I had cool air flowing again - all within one hour. I couldn't be happier with my experience. Note: A previous AC issue with American Home Warranty took multiple visits and many hours to get it right. So that experience was my baseline for what to expect. CHOICE far exceeded that expectation.

Stan Kash came out to evaluate our plumbing problem. Stan was the best and honest. The problem was outside of our HW coverage. Stan went overboard and tried to give us a small break before the major issue got worse. We made it thru the wkend and I am now trying to get everything in place for what the major problem is, thanks to Stan's guidance.. Stan is also filing a grout shower/floor issue. All I can say is this man, Stan Kash , is honest and reliable to tell you exactly what is going on. He is very experienced in plumbing issues and accessing the problems. You can trust his word and honesty!!

This was my first claim filed since becoming a member of Choice. My experience with customer service and the FIRST TWO of the THREE technicians sent to repair my refrigerator was AWFUL!!! It took two months and two service call fees (2nd fee not refunded) to make what turned out to be a simple repair. The first repairman made our refrigerator function WORSE than before the attempted repair. When the 1st technician was asked to return to reassess the problem, he refused and said we had to submit a new request through Choice! Technician was great. He recommended the dishwasher be replaced and Choice Home Warranty denied his recommendation. Why pay monthly for a warranty and pay the service charge for the technician only to have a warranty company not follow what their technician recommended. Wow wha a worthless company.
