Choice Home Warranty is a New Jersey-based company founded in 2008 which offers services contracts. Their plans offer protection against the cost of repair or replacement of major systems and appliances in the home via several plans. You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I am new to Choice Home Warranty (CHW) since May 2017. I have been very pleased with the customer service as well as the service companies CHW has sent out to work on my appliances. CHW has very reasonable Premiums as well as Service Fees and they have replaced or repaired the items I have submitted for claims.

My experience with CHW has been great. Every time I have contacted the company they have been very helpful and professional. However, my experience with the technician has been poor. I am still waiting for my pool pump to be fixed. I called yesterday for an update and he told me he would call me back last evening. I've not heard back from him.

I joined CHW a couple of months ago from American Home Shield. So far the customer service and the serviceman have been very professional and knowledgeable. My yearly rate decreased by $200+ dollars. I am very pleased with the wrong call I made to them thinking it was AHS trying to renew my warranty. :)

My contract stated if they were to replace instead of repair my dryer they would compensate the same quality dryer not necessarily the same brand. what they failed to add was that the dollar amount would not be the same cost it would actually take to replace set appliance. Our dryer was top of the line and even a no name brand would cost minimum of $575 for the same capacity we had. Choice would only give us $350. We have decided to go with a different warranty company that is willing to replace same brands and quality appliances even if service charges are more.

I have tried to get my AC repaired for over a month. They kept sending emails and phone calls for AC companies to do the repair and 6 companies they sent tp me refused to work with CHW. Two companies returned my call and said they never heard or were affiliated with CHW. The last company they sent to me never showed up on the scheduled date. hey called that night and said the tech would arrive Saturday morning; and never showed up. I called CHW and they were able to contact the tech company. The owner said he would get there today. He showed up at 8:45 PM Saturday night.
