Latest National General Reviews
They are absolutely atrociously bad. Run for your life. It doesn't seem as if anybody puts in a claim ever gets paid ever. They should be put out of business.
We've had excellent service and rates from National General over the years for motorhomes and travel trailers. We just bought another trailer and are going with them again!
I can not even leave 1 star this has been the worst experience of our lives they do not stand behind there policy at all they sent out an adjuster out to look at hail damage he climbed the ladder and took just a couple of pics and we are told not hail damage. It is from neglect hail actually put holes in roof shattered all vents and cracked both windshield now they want us to file a separate claim because they say that has to be from rocks on the road .really!!!!!all of our cars in the driveway all got hit they even totaled my wife's car this all happened April 1st 2024 today is June 9th now they say the glass is too expensive and they dont want to replace them at the cost....... They react FAST. HAD CLAIM For WINDSCEEN REPAIRED IN A less than a WEEK.
Easy to work with
All I see here is bad reviews I think I’ll stick with progressive
My third year with National General on our Class A - NG and my shop are about $6000 apart on what the repairs should cost for a large hole in the back of our coach. Accident occured in September Estimate done by NG in October and by the shop the end of October. They are pushing for the repairs to be done at Camping World because of an agreement the two companies have. At this point, it's move the coach to another repair shop and start over or pay $6000 out of pocket. Never again!!!!
My truck was stolen May 24th, today is July 19, still don't have it back, nor is it at repair shop, yet it's been released to repair. NGIC has been aware of truck being recovered by police since June 6th. This is lethargic at best, almost criminal at worst. I am a full time RV dweller and have to rely on generosity of those around me. It is difficult to get a hold of the claims adjuster, they don't return calls, my BBB complaint was whitewashed. DO NOT RECOMMEND. My mind is blown in how they are rated so high, people who rate must not have gone through the agonizing claims process.
Be wary of their "Additional Charges" later call "Acquisition Costs" which were never shown as nonrefundable when signing up for the policy. It was only when I decided to cancel 11 days into the year long policy that I was verbally informed the fee was not refundable even though they were rolled up into the full annual premium. If you cancel prior to the ending date of the policy you will not see any of this "fee" returned to you.
Wow it seems that we are not the only ones that NG are jerking around. We parked our tow vehicle to close to our 5th wheel and started the self leveling. While he was walking around making sure that the stabilizing blocks were positioned correctly, I heard a crunching sound and discovered the the passenger corner on our pickup hood was being crushed by our hitch. We turned it in and they determined that the claim would be honored under "collision" I argued the point and even spoke to her manager. I reminded them that the engine was off, and no one was in the vehicle. It made no difference to them. It seems that they make up the rules as they go. He has a clean driving record but... Read More
So they have the worlds worst rating system for determining whether you can be insured. I have 0 points on my record but a few carpool lane tickets. These idiots lump carpool lane tickets in an overarching description of following too closely, driving on the wrong side/wrong direction. SO they have basically lumped together non-liability causing tickets in with things that could potentially be a major liability to determine you insurability. They have no way of adjusting or fixing things within their own system and couldn't even give an actual answer as to why I couldn't be insured, just a best guess. Even more dumb is they insure my car!!!!
We filed a claim on our RV after hitting a pothole and having an explosive tire blow out. We have incurred structural damage to our RV. After multiple visits your adjuster confirmed this structural damage. We have been denied coverage on the bases of an assumption that it is a manufacture defect without proof. NG has even denied paying for unit tear down for further diagnosis. NG’s answer is “no pothole damage could break the structure” leaving us with an totaled RV. Not only has NG not covered our camper they have sent all of our private information and denials to the wrong person leaving us in the dark for weeks and ultimately embarrassed. This lack of attention to detail has... Read More
Worst company I’ve ever dealt with! They will low ball the customers and the service department of any repair facility. Do your homework, call any RV repair facility and ask ( who are the worst insurance companies they deal with? ) This company will be in the top five.
Don’t make the same mistake I made! Stay away!
They just increased my rate by over 40% with mambo jumbo about rate revisions. Rv hasn’t moved for years, no tickets etc etc etc.
just a big rip off
Continued to raise Class A RV rate. GEICO WAS LESS THAN 1/2 PRICE. Switched and do not recommend due to unreasonable price increases
Absolutely AWFUL . . . Difficult to deal with as a company -- web site is beyond challenging on log-in sometimes; long wait for an operator if you phone (and then you had better get a name and extension number or the promises of what will happen don't mean anything) . . . when i finally got fed up with dealing with them, found the same coverage in a matter of minutes adding my RV to other policies at State Farm (and talking to real people who want to be helpful) at a price ONE THIRD (!!) of what I'd been charged by National General. I'm just glad i never needed to try to file a claim from those bozos in the 7 years i was a customer.
I will never use nor recommend this Co. Again. Their exclusions are so vague they can include anything in them . Also we were denied coverage from a wind damage by their saying we had not maintained it properly was the reason for damage. They never sent an appraiser to see but based this on pictures after the damage. It cost us $7000.00-$8,000.00 to to replace the roof . And waited 4 days for them to decide. We then had to get it patched to finish our 7000 miles vacation.
We have not had them long and as of today I don’t know if we will stay with them. We have had a RV for 30 years and at most 4 claims ever. I went out to put something in my Rv and found my vinyl tile all cracked. We love in MN never has happen before but we have had some extremely cold this year. So sent pictures to insurance, week later she gets back to us and says they will not cover and there is water damage ah no not a spot that looks like water and mind you never sent anyone to look at it she was from NY.How can you say this when you have not even seen it. Going to call goodsam they talked me into changing and see what happen.
I guess if you pay your policy off early, you get canceled once they get your premium, not sure what that is about, I was 1 day late sending a payment, and received a cancellation letter, so I the following month I paid balance in full, now I look at the account online it shows 0.00 due and account was canceled they have some serious issues with getting it right
I bought the RV insurance at the encouragement of the dealer I bought my new motorhome through. In the process of a cross country road trip and had a small accident in a desert town in Arizona. Filed a claim the same day. Next day had to repeatedly call to get a claim number and adjuster. Sent all relevant information to the claims adjuster, and both myself and the repair facility called her all day and left v/m messages, finally reaching her. She then informed us she passed it on to another party to review (this was early in the morning). No call backs to either of us, we both tried to reach her only to find out she goes home at 5:00pm (not 5:01), leaving me hanging in the desert in... Read More
I purchased a brand new 2018 Jayco trailer in March and transferred my insurance coverage with National General from my previous trailer. I scraped a sign at a gas station on my way to North Carolina in April. Devastated with damage to my new home (full time RVer), I got an estimate and called in a claim. I was told that National General had no one in Wilkesboro, NC to assess the damage...main office is in Winston Salem???? My 1st conversation with Kerry Fenton I was accused of fraud...go figure. She accused me of purchasing a damaged trailer and then turning the damage into insurance. Also, she said that she questioned me turning in a claim after only having coverage for a short... Read More
I did my very 1st Insurance Claim ever with National General on my RV Motorcoach. I am guessing that since I portrayed to them as being a "Novice" in this area of expertise, they took advantage of it. They did cover the 3 items that I only knew that were damaged due to bad weather. The expert mechanic, to whom, I took my Motorcoach to do the repairs explained and brought it to the Appraiser's attention, during his inspection of the damages, that he had discovered a "RUST" damage on the interior upper part of "ALL" of the Exterior Compartment doors? It was not like that before the bad weather? Of course, National General denied to cover this problem. So, this will diminish the value of my... Read More
On May 10, 2018, I was involved in an accident with my 5th Wheel trailer hitting a cement post outside the gate of Notchy Creek Rv Campground in Vonore, Tn. The damage that was done was the rear cap was almost completely torn away. It was towed Chilhowee Rv Center the closest Winnebago dealer/certified Winnebago repair shop in Alcoa, Tn. It has been sitting at the Chilhowee Rv Center in Alcoa, Tn. for seven weeks now. To date, I have received repair estimates from both the body shop and National General. At the moment there seems to be not only a $ 6748.42 difference between the two but both sides are currently deadlocked and refuse to work with one another. There has NOT been... Read More
I'm a full-timer in Melbourne, Florida, and National doesn't even write a policy for this zip code. I leave when a Tropical Storm threatens
They Suck
They refuse to pay they Are tighter than a frogs butt. They hold you hostage. They make you have to take them to court to make them pay.
Why they are given #1?
look at all the bad reviews!!!
One of the worst rv insurance company's out by far. My 5th wheel had a power surge it burnt up a lot of things in the camper including the ceiling they gave me a line of BS why they would not cover the claim. BUYER BEWARE!
