Homeowner's Insurance - if denied claim, hire a licensed Public Adjuster if you want to save yourself lots of time and effort. It is easy to google/search for Public Adjusters in your area. Allstate WILL and did deny legitimate hail damage claim - slowly and painfully for me. After Public Adjuster appointed as my agent, Allstate still slow but did eventually pay even more than initially requested due to additional damage found by Public Adjuster.
Really bad Insurance Company. They do whatever it takes not to pay any claim. That is my experience.
My roof was 23 years old 4 years ago when I signed up with Allstate Homeowners. I was told if I purchased a new roof my rates would be lowered. I purchased a new roof in July 2022 for over $12,000. Allstate wanted proof of a new roof, so I sent them the receipt and pictures. It's now November, they said their underwriters have been looking at it. Funny how it took minutes to originally quote it and take my money. Now they are telling me THEY NEED MORE PROOF!! My agent lives 3 miles from my home. Anyone can see my new roof from the street. Why would I risk insurance fraud (5 yrs. in Ohio) for a couple of bucks? I am going to change, even if it cost the same or a little more.
I had a hail storm in my area and Allstate, after sending three inspectors to check and take photos, considered that there was no hail damage and they do not want to be held responsible for the damage caused, the decision was made to proceed legally against Allstate, I not recommend this insurance, the report was made on April 26 and they were only taking time to say that the claim did not proceed after two months of waiting.

My home has stood in this suburb since 1952. It is located within 1 mile of three separate fire departments. NO house in this suburb has ever burned down. Then SURPRISE! Allstate is charging me $60 more per month on a home that would sell for under $90K, "because it is not located close enough to a fire hydrant". I call BS. They are shoring up their profits on the backs of policyholders!
I'm a senior citizen and filed a claim on my home. It was vandalized. I was told that the cost to fix it would not be enough to pay the deductable and fix damages. I thought that was amazing since labor alone would run around 1500. I have had my fill with insurance companies. They can keep the house and shove it. I also have car insurance with them.
will not recommend. Had a bad experience. I made a claim, and they didn't pay for my roof.
I've been with Allstate for over 38 years with my car and home. Filed a claim for my home because a tree fell on my roof. They dragged the claim for almost 3 months , they didn't cover the whole expense i had to finish paying the contractor. Will not recommend them to my friends' families or neighbors.
had allstate homeowners insurance for about two years, had heavy snow, which i was told was unusual, had some strong wind, ended up with leaking roof, turn in a claim, allstate sent out a inspector, i had a roofer inspecting with him, had another roofer inspect my roof from all three my understanding i needed a new roof. allstate offer me three hundred and seventy dollars and seventy six cents. there is no way i could recommend them
They seem to not want to pay claims. 3 months after lightning wiped out almost all electrical and electronics no end in sight
I have handled hundreds of Allstate claims. They are definitely not the worst but far from the best. They usually deny/underpay claims in bad faith to start but will usually roll over when they get push back.
My rating is a 1 star. If I could give a negative rating I would. Start off with one adjuster end up with three different adjusters. Paperwork gets lost. We’ve been trying to get paid for storage for 15 weeks, there’s slow talk you into saying that they’re trying to get things together when in fact they’re slow on purpose. This is what they’ve been taught to do. They’ve been taught to lie, they’ve been taught to delay, they say that the customer will end up giving up. But they’re in for a long haul because this is why we have NAIC. This is why we will be hiring an attorney and file a complaint against Allstate they are the worst of the worst they’ll take your premium and if you don’t pay... Read More
Allstate does not want to pay when you make a claim stay away from them as homeowners. The biased opinion of when your adjuster thinks storm damage happened has left me appalled to say the least . How do you make up your mind when my initial claim was water damage your adjuster never came inside my house why b/c you had already made up your mind that you were not going to cover anything .otherwise you would have made a full insurance claim as I had filed . If I really really needed you then of course you would not be there .If you only want new construction claims then just tell a customer before they insure with you . I don't need or want your $400 you can keep it Good job that's... Read More
Allstate is a crap company. They will not pay to roof your home regardless of the damage if your home is new. They will tell you that they will patch it but don’t think they are going to replace it and pay to fix it correctly because they aren’t! So they will give you a settlement that won’t even begin to help you fix your damages so you are going to pay out of your pocket to get your property repaired correctly! Our roof had extensive hail damage from being hit with baseball sized hail. We had 3 different roofing companies look at our damage. All 3 companies said it needed to be completely replaced. Allstate gave us $4000 and said it could be patched. Your paying premiums that they will... Read More
Allstate is not the company they use to be. They don't respond to calls. You are left on your own trying to figure things out and they don't pay enough for your claim to get necessary repairs.I changed adjusters 3 time but each time I was not informed. I had the worst experience of my 66 yrs of living in trying to get one claim resolved.
They did not replace our roof after a hail storm. Neighbors all around us got full replacements and we got partial leaving us to pay the rest.
Been with them 20 years. Dont know why, they have Never paid a claim. I am drawn in by their size and perceived reputation. Last straw. Lightning strike. Lost half my power, appliances and a hole in my wall. They had the nerve to ask me how old the paint on my wall is. They also want me to pay for all inspections and repairs up front. I have $25 in the bank.
I have been a customer of Allstate for over 20 years. In that time, all of my neighbors have had hail damage and replaced their roofs at least twice. None of them have Allstate Homeowner's insurance. None of them also have a magic roof like I must have, since Allstate has looked at my roof several times in the past 20 years and seen no hail damage. I would highly recommend Allstate if you are like me and have a magic roof; otherwise, go with someone else, someone who will actually cover your damage (which professional roofers actually do see on my magic roof).
llstate does not fight Mayhem, they are parteners. After having our car broken into and robbed while on vacation 1500 miles from home, we called Allstate. The robbers took everything but one suitcase; all our medicines, glasses, contacts, retainer, cameras. We were 10 days into a month long road trip. We were violated by robbers and then by allstate. Their first question was are you working or unemployed, followed by who lives in your home. Had they taken one minute to look at our records, they would have seen we were retired. The next fun began when we tried to get replacement of items. We were told receipts or pictures would be needed. Lucky for us we had purchased many items before the... Read More
absolutly the worst experience we have ever had. i have heard more complaints about this company than any other. my compliant sounds like the others, major hail damage and shingles coming lose. the ajuster doesn't even get on the roof to inspect, and shows up with an attitude
Bad experience. no explanations..Don't even attempt to ensure your home to this company
20 years & if I get a new roof they will be gone. In 2015 my shingles were curling & had hail damage. Now 2019 I have missing shingles due to wind & hail. It has been over a week & 2 adjuster's only to hear nothing. I am sure they will deny this claim like they did the 2015 & if so, I will be hiring me an attorney. Read the book " from good hands to boxing gloves." Written by an attorney after dealing with Allstate. I also have my cars through them & I dropped 1 of 4 so I still have 3 for a multi car discount. My friggin insurance went up $86.00... are you kidding me? So done with this rip off company
I was insured with Allstate for the past 6 years, and in January a tree fell on our house, and hell broke loose when the adjuster came. He was snooping around my home. I rent my home for occasional residential purposes which is completely within the policy, however the dragged out a 4 week investigation and decided that I had lied on the application. I have been asking for a copy of the document they have based their decision on for 4 months, and I'm getting the run around. They hang up on my, don't rely to certified mail inquiries, the agent has block my number. They are the numb er one company for bad faith insurance practice!!! Now I know why. I wish I had know before the tree fell... Read More
they refused to cover claim on the first wind and hail damage . they concluded that there was no apparent leak and dammage was under the deductible. got another wind and hail storm that caused leaks. the report showed that some of the issues was from the previous wind and hail storm that got worse. they calculated depreciation of the roof extremely high and price the repair to the lowest value. I ended up with a low fraction of the dollar value of the repair cost after deduction that was not enough to fix the entire affected area. had to find my own way out. they increased the cost of the policy by $250.00 and took away my no claim discount.
