ABOUT THIS CARD

Here’s a simple rewards card that offers you 1.5% cash back on all purchases, with no limits. It also features a strong sign-up bonus and a valuable promotional financing offer. New cardholders can earn a 0ne-time $200 cash bonus after spending $500 on purchases within 3 months from account opening. You’ll also receive 15 months of 0% APR introductory financing on both new purchases and balance transfers, 14.99%-24.99% variable APR after that. There is a 3% balance transfer fee, which you can expect from nearly all similar introductory financing offers.

There are several competing cards that offer similar levels of cash back, and like the Capital One Quicksilver, have no annual fee. Yet this card has a few advantages. First, Capital One offers your cash back rewards as a statement credit, gift cards or even a check, which you can redeem at any time and for any amount. Capital One also offers outstanding cardholder benefits including extended warranty coverage, the ability to pause your card and exclusive access to music, sports and culinary events. Capital One cards also have no foreign transaction fees, which is an important feature if you travel outside the United States.

For all of these reasons, this card appeals most to those looking for a simple rewards card that offers strong benefits and has few fees. However, this card can also be a useful tool for paying off existing balances or enjoying interest free financing for over a year.

4 things informed consumers need to know:
  1. Get enough credit cards to keep the balance on each one below 30% of its limit.
  2. Pay on time, use cards sparingly and keep your accounts open.
  3. Don’t apply for too many cards at once. Do 1 today, again in 6 months, etc.
  4. More cards mean a wider variety of points and benefits.
