My experience with Somfy Systems was terrible. Their customer service has no phone number and no email that I could find that will get you to a live agent. I placed an order on their web site and then replied to my order confirmation with a question about expedited shipping charges (in the hopes of upgrading the shipping of my order to 2nd day), and without answering my question they promptly cancelled my order. I replied to the cancellation/refund email asking for someone to call me and that I did not want to cancel my order, but no one in customer service seems to have a phone. I have been waiting for a week now. I am extremely dissatisfied with Somfy. No company's customer service... Read More
We had eight motorized shades installed with Somfy motors in 2020. Since then four of the motors have failed at different intervals. Warranty motors have been supplied, but installation costs for each repair is very expensive. I believe there was a quality control problem with the motor assembly and Somfy has not elected to reach out to those affected and done the right thing by replacing all at no cost. If this is not the case then the product is of poor quality and design. 50% failure in 2 years.
We bought 5 floor/ceiling shades about 8/9 years ago. Worked fine. Battery powered. Professionally installed. Batteries needed changing (6 AA batteries as I recall) every couple months. Couple years ago decided we were too old and it was too much trouble - paid the $$$ to convert everything to electric. Shades themselves were in good shape. Moral of the story - buy electric powered shades. Won't be much more than battery to install. They have been slow to adapt to smart home protocols. IF you want to control via voice, rather than hand held remote (remote does work perfectly) - might want to compare w. some other brand. I finally got our shades to be... Read More
Our systems were installed in May 2011. They use 12 1.5 volt Lithium batteries tp produce 12 volts of DC power. We have five windows facing west out over the ocean so we would like to be able to raise and lower the curtains as a function of the time of day. The units are extremely underpowered requiring new batteries almost every time we use them. They are extremely complex to program and we have given up on one curtain entirely, just leave it closed. I have been completely stymied trying to buy parts, you have to buy major assemblies when all that is needed is a small part and you have to buy those assemblies, as far as I have been able to discern, from retail houses that add their... Absolutely do not buy any system that uses Somfy motors (I do not know if hunter douglas uses other motors) I spent almost $7000 for 3 large windows. The batteries have to be replaced every year (the blinds are only used in summer about 2 -3 days a week at most. But that is expected. What was not expected is the 3 motors have been replaced twice. The dealers charged $400/ motor. and then they put every roadblock possible to charge again when in 3 years the motors died again. This time I bought them from Amazon....to be told by Somfy that they don't honor the warranty unless it is from their dealers. Who sold the motors to the amazon dealers in the first place??! "Peace of mind" hardly.... Read More
We had blind fitted with Somfy motorized units. They use up the Lithium batteries at a fast rate. For very little usage, the batteries lasted 7 months and cost around Aud$ 20 per blind to replace. We also had difficulty trying to get a user manual to program the functions. The Somfy agent says the customer cannot program the unit or warranty will be voided and needs to have a service person booked to have it done. Very poor communications and very keen to get more $$$$. The battery wands are mounted up behind the blinds requiring access to the top of the blinds to change the batteries. In our case that is up in a stairwell that requires some scaffolding to perform the task. Very user... Read More
Had a very bad experience with Somfy motorized blinds ($10K all in cost for 13 windows). Poor installation, product faulty from the outset and ongoing
two in one remote: the second blind has not operated since the installer left. The price for the motorised option with somfy was twice that of the manual blind - cannot see why. Charging the remote is so tricky (see YouTube - there are no instructions) that it requires a visit to the local battery place which is ridiculous. The motor on the blind itself needs to be electronically charged which means climbing a ladder to access and then attaching the charger, a short cord, and a long extension cord to an electrical outlet.
